Heliflite WA Delivers First Helicopter
Aug 27, 2008
Heliflite recently announced the first helicopter delivery from its recently established Western Australian helicopter sales and service centre at Jandakot Airport.
Heliflite delivered a new Robinson R44 Clipper II with air-conditioning to Perth automotive businessman Richard Stookes. This is the second helicopter purchased by Stookes from Heliflite: he acquired his first R44 Clipper II from the company in 2005. Heliflite’s Western Australian operation looks forward to continued deliveries of new helicopters in the future, a press release states.
Heliflite’s involvement in the Western Australian helicopter industry goes back to the late 1970s, with a charter organisation based in Kununurra. In the early 1980s, Heliflite introduced the Robinson R22 helicopter to Western Australia; a decade later, it brought the first R44s to the region. This year Heliflite opened its Western Australian authorised Robinson and AgustaWestland helicopter sales and service centre at Jandakot Airport. Manager Tony Bates leads the experienced Heliflite WA team, which has now grown to seven staff.
According to the press release, Heliflite has been the longest-serving Robinson helicopter distributor since 1977, with major bases also in Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland. Currently, Robinson helicopters account for almost 50 percent of Australia’s helicopter fleet, with 440 R22s and 336 R44s currently on the Australian Civil Aircraft Register. Heliflite is the exclusive AgustaWestland distributor for Australasia.
